Yotsunsa
Animal Name: Yotsunsa
Location:Faesa
Effects/Uses: A guardian to a room or a person. Easily trained to focus their protection on a single target, and very popular with children.
Description: It is a small fae-like creature, about 30cm (12 inch) tall with transparent bug wings, wide hips, big compound eyes. Their body is covered in soft fur from head to toe. Some have claws on their feet and arms, while other have some soft paws. They all have antennas, but the size and shape of the antenna differ from each other, along with their head shape - though generally they are very round. Their color also differs depending on the element they are associated with. Most of their appearance heavily depends on what they bred for.
Rumor has it, that wild ones are rainbow colored and can gain mastery over all elements of magic, capable of granting any wishes. As well as been 2m+ tall (6ft +). However that can no longer be proven as the whole population of Yotsunsa has already been tamed and lived within the city of Faesa for centuries. Any stories of wild Yotsunsa is now just a story to most. Only a few still hunt for the wild ones. In reality there is no such things, just a story someone made up.
Another rumor is the existence of Black Yotsunsa. It has a more imps rather than fairy like appearance, much malnourished body as well and enjoy killing and consuming everything in its path. Often told by parent's to their naughty children, again there is no such thing, just a rumor.
Behavior:Their temperament differ depend on what they are breed for and what they are guarding. Those that guards treasures and archive are generally more aggressive and powerful. While those that serve as nannies are gentler and have more defensive magic. However their base personality is loyal and protective, they would not abandon their charge and would take care of them as much as they could.
They have specific breeding rituals that only the breeders in Faesa fully knew, and help facilitate. Subsequently allowing them to control what kind of offspring they brought forth. They lay round glowing eggs, with transparent shell and glowing light holding within. When they are approaching hatching time the light will glow brighter and brighter until they are born with the sound of glass shattering.
Baby Yotsunsa are like human children, they can be quite cheeky and often test out their magic by playing tricks. Usually a breeder needs an older Yotsunsa to help in rearing the young and get them ready to fulfill the role they are born into. It took only two weeks for a Yotsunsa to fully mature and start the duty they are breed for.
They are nearly immortal (about 1000 years if nothing happen to them), but not invulnerable, often their cause of death was failure to protect their charge and they die of broken heart or injuries of the fight, even their charge dying of old age could kill them. This leaves their usual old age well below their 1000 year life span. They have powerful magic but weak to steel and poison. When they die, they lose their color, becoming pure white and near transparent. Their body is taken to Yotsunsa breeders if they could, for what purpose the breeders doesn’t say.

Re: Yotsunsa
Hey maru, a few things!
-While it's acceptable for each yotsuna to control a different element, mastery over all is a little too strong. Please change to just one element per creature! Likewise, no magic wish granting, unless this is an unfounded myth ;v;
-Characters of high sentience and cognitive ability probably wouldn't be forced into breeding; it'd be their own choice. Perhaps instead of a mammal-like ritual, they create and pollinate eggs by themselves in the form of plants? That grow and bloom the eggs or something? Idk, perhaps they're not as intelligent as I think. Let me know! c:
-Immortal is too much, please give a lifespan, even if it's a pretty long one, like four or five thousand years.

Re: Yotsunsa
Hiya Jay here is the changes
- It is an ancient story, the truth is the wild ones just split up to the modern Yotsunsa you see. Rainbow one does not exist anymore... Still good to use as fairytale
-and because of that I also added in the lore for a black Yotsunsa. Basically devil variety that devours elements. Also not real, but a good scary story for kids
-also I probably didn't write it clearly, but they are not forced to breed. They just require a complicated ritual and decides to enlist the help of other races in exchange for their eternal loyalty and service. Also in doing that they let them choose what kind of offspring will be born. Sort of like genetically modified kids.
But the process probably does involve pollinating something in the glass jar or even using those dead Yostunsa body. Who knows its a mystery
- put up more info on the age. Cut out the immortality mostly
Let me know if anything else need changing, you know where to find me XD
