Doki was late. Very late. He was also tiered, scared and internally cursing every thread of his consciousness for putting himself in the current situation. He had been sent on his errand hours ago and he knew he should be on his way back to the estate by now. Instead he had yet to retrieve the parcel he had been ordered to retrieve and was only half way to the collection location. He ran through crowded streets weaving around the much taller foot traffic surrounding him and shouting the occasional apology as he bumped or shoved pass an unobservant pedestrian.

He felt bad about startling the strangers and knew it wasn't his place to inconvenience a free citizen but in his state of distress he couldn't find a moment to regret his actions. Only hoped no one would get mad enough to stop and confront him.

'Oh you are so screwed!'
He could hear her, the most common voice to plague his thoughts. 'East' as he internally referenced but he did not bother to look around to view her.
'If you don't get back to the estate with Master Geralts' new suit before the party he--'
"I KNOW."
One or two strangers may have heard his curt statement but he didn't care and figured he was rushing by to fast for anyone to question why he was talking to himself.
'Oh you know? How smart of you.' The sarcasm was not lost on him.
"J-ju....st....sh...ut...shut up...p-please..."

Cold winter air wheezed in and out of his lungs as he struggled to control his breathing. He could feel his legs burning and his fear rising. The party was in less than 2 Hours. His owner had special ordered the new outfit of this specific occasion. Socialites, celebrities, millionaires all walks of the upper class and people of influence were going to be there. If he messed this up- didn't make it on time--
'You know Geralt has a soft spot for you he wont kill you I think-which actually might be worse--wont feed you for weeks-yeah- beat you within an inch of your life-how many lashings do you th-'
East was starting to get to him, he didn't want to hear it. Already knew how deep the hole he dug for himself was. Today was important, everyone on the estate had that made blatantly clear to them.
"p-pl....ease... j-just.. QUIT--!!!!"

Doki turned the corner to a less populated avenue to quickly and slipped on a sheet of ice mid statement. The collision his face made with the concrete happened so fast he couldn't even try to reduce the damage. In one swift motion he was flat on the ground, face down on the icy stone and silently sobbing. He could hear East laughing next to him.

In the seconds that followed his fall Doki was certain of two things. He had almost bitten his tongue off and someone had tripped over his prone body.

He was scared to look and in to much pain to get up and flee. If he had just caused some rich madam to fall into the snow or into the street he was done for. There was no way he would make it to the pick up point in time. They would drag him back to the estate and demand compensation from his owner, it has happened before, he wasn't sure Geralt would forgive it a second time especially on such an important occasion AND with him going back empty handed.

Laven\\WHAT A LOVELY DAY//Doki Empty Re: Laven\\WHAT A LOVELY DAY//Doki

Post by Laven Thu Dec 10, 2015 11:45 am

The day was growing late and Laven was still waiting  in his shop with the final order waiting to be picked up. The fact that he had expected the parcel to be retrieved hours ago had left the elf pacing an bored. And then irritated. The family that had commissioned him  payed well but were exacting enough to set Laven's teeth on edge. They knew what they wanted, but they didn't seem to understand when what they desired was physically impossible to create with thread and cloth.

Still, Laven could use the money, and with winter solstice around the corner he had been thinking of picking up some special gifts that were outside of his budget but would be worth the response he got. He wanted  the money from this commission, and as the sun slipped below the buildings he decided that if he had to deliver it himself well... So be it. He wasn't so prideful to turn down his nose at walking from one side of the city to the other.

Thick winter coat, scarf and gloves donned had Laven locking the store up and making his way through the winter streets with the wrapped bundle under his arm. Piles of slush and slick ice patches marked his path, and if Laven hadn't been so light on his feet there were plenty of times he could have found himself face first.

That is, until he took a step and ran into a small body laying prone over a patch of ice. Laven grunted and made sure to keep the package out of harms way as he fell and landed hard on his hip and behind. At least he hadn't landed on the other person. In fact, they were still laying face down and shaking. With a furrowed brow Laven managed to get his legs under himself and cleared his throat.
"Are you alright?"

With no answer Laven moved to crouch next to the smaller body. If they were faking to steal from him they'd find themselves far worse for wear, Remembrance strapped against his thigh as always and within easy reach. If they were actually hurt then... Well Laven would do what he could. Thin fingers touched the shoulder of what he could tell was a goblin. And a younger one, at that unless that was malnourishment making their body so scrawny. "It's okay, do you need help child?"

"Are you alright?"
The thought that the question was meant for him never crossed Dokis mind. He heard it but still was to overcome with fear to move. A part of him was hoping if he tried not to move the problem would go away. If he just lay still long enough...he would be fine.
"It's okay, do you need help child?"
The feeling of a hand on his shoulder had his entire body tense and burst into motion. His panic overriding any comprehensive skills to quickly register what the stranger had said.

Flipping over like a flopping fish he scrambled backwards and away as quickly as as possible. So intent on putting distance between himself and the man quickly Doki had not gauged the distance between himself and the building he had fallen in front of. His movement was only stopped when the back of his head collided violently with the shop window. He heard a crack but wasn't sure if it was his skull or the window.

"AAHHUUG!"
'Lord....you are so embarrassing....'

Tears were obscuring his vision he could not see the strangers face but he could make out his figure. He could also see East shaking her head with disappointment.
'He asked if you were okay!'
"O....oh..."
He reached one trembling hand up to tenderly press against the back of his skill. He could feel an all to familiar warm liquid transfer to his fingers.
"...F-fine...t--thank y-y-ou..."
His response came out with a lisp and sounded more like barely discernible grunts. The pain of where he had bitten his tongue and the blood beginning to spill out of his mouth causing the words to come out awkwardly.

His face was still a bit numb but as the moments passed he began to feel the full effects of his fall. Split lip to go with his bitten tongue and It was still to early to tell if his nose was broken but he could definitely feel the small bit of red moister begin to dribble out of it.

His head was thobbing and he was face was aching. He knew he was not actually fine, But, it was a default answer. Not this mans problem so long as the stranger wasn't mad. The sooner he left the sooner Doki could try to reach the Tailor shop.

The sudden nature of the goblin trying to put as much distance between the two of them had Laven stilling immediately. With his hands up he watched the smaller person scuttle away, eyes impassive as he took in the slumped and nervous body language. The sound of skull connecting to thick glass made him wince, but it was the blood seeping out of the sharp toothed mouth that had him opening his mouth to speak. The fact that the goblin had mumbled and stuttered to himself hadn't escaped the elf. But who didn't every once in a while?

"Are you sure? You're bleeding child." With deliberate slowness Laven reached into his coat and withdrew a square of cloth and extended it to the younger person before him. "Here, you can wrap some ice or snow up in it to help with the swelling at least." It felt a bit like talking to a hand shy stray, all slow movements and gentle coaxing. It was all Laven could do to not move closer to look over the bloody wound on this young goblin's head. If the blood on their fingers was any judge the skin had definitely split.

Laven stayed crouched on his heels, well made boots keeping him steady as he looked over the ragged little goblin. Probably a pick pocket or someone who took the limited work offered to someone who lived on the streets. Though he was cleaner than Laven would have expected so perhaps a very poor servant? Or simply very poor. He could remember what that was like, and he quirked a half smile for him and tried once again.
"Do you want me to get someone for you? You could sit while I fetch them."

His entire body was tense as he sat and watched the stranger before him. Blinking rapidly he attempted to clear his vision of the accumulation of moister. His heart rate was returning to normal and he was regiang to ability to process thoughts normally.

"Are you sure? You're bleeding child. Here, you can wrap some ice or snow up in it to help with the swelling at least."

Doki stared at the outstretched appendage for a few long moments debating weather to accept the offering or not. He was afraid to ruin such a soft and clean looking patch of fabric with his own blood and grime.
"Do you want me to get someone for you? You could sit while I fetch them."

Doki reached forward slowly to grasp the swatch of fabric and brought it to his lips to tentatively begin cleaning his face. Shifting his gaze upward as he did so to finally get a clear look at the stranger.
He was a kind looking Elf, with a comforting face and sharp eyes. He seemed familiar but Doki could not place where he knew the face.

"...N-NO...No...t-there...there i-is no one....thank you...."

He felt bad putting this man through any trouble but he seemed nice enough and not angry which was a very good plus. Soon he could be on his way, he had already wasted enough time.
'OH.OM .GOD. I KNOW HIM!! It's-It's -'
Easts outburts had the realization dawn on Doki in an instant
"Laven!...uhh...y-you....your the tailor...Laven...r-right?"
For the first time Doki noticed the parcel.
"M-my-ma--well--mister Geralt-H-h-his su-suiit! Do you-is that!"
If that was indeed the package he had been sent to retrieve Doki could not be more grateful for the lucky turn of events. Broken nose or minor concision be damned, it was all worth it if that really was the suit he was looking for.

"I am late and--"
He was getting excited and overwhelmed with gratitude. He stood faster than he thought himself capable of and immediately regretted it. He was light headed and in a haphazard attempt to keep from topping over he swung his hand towards the shop window to brace himself.
Though he didn't mean to one of his extra appendages came with it. His real hand came to rest against the glass with a load thump and steadied Doki on his feet for a fraction of a second but his extra appendage swung out with to much force and punched thought the shop window. The momentum and the cracking of the glass around the new gagged hole had Doki almost loose his balance as his entire extra limb went though the glass right up to the shoulder.

'SHIT, you dummy!'

He didn't see this ending well. He was struggling to keep standing in his awkward position and he had no hope that the destruction of the shop property would go unnoticed by whoever was within.
All his excitement was being replaced with dread.

He had been waiting to see how the goblin would react, hoping he would at least take the handkerchief and not lash out at him. Laven could tell the younger man (was he even a man, or was this a boy?) was nervous because of his presence. It was all he could do to be still and look non-threatening.

And then the little goblin called him by name and Laven tipped his head to the side.
“Yes, I’m Laven. Oh! You’re Geralt’s servant?” The goblin stumbled and stuttered through two sentences at once, but Laven pulled them apart and glanced down at the wrapped package under his arm and back up to the young man to answer him.

In time to see him stand up and crash into the shop behind him. Or at least, part of him had. The elf’s brow furrowed at the extra limb, then widened.
“Oh my.”

It was an understatement.

The shattered sounds of glass and property being destroyed was soon overtaken by unhappy cries from within the building itself.

“What in Aethel’s name? Hey you!  You’re going to pay for that you little-”

Standing quickly and stepping forwards Laven held out a hand in a warding gesture. “I’m so sorry, it was a bit of an accident. The lad is hurt, you see.” Clearly the blood still oozing from the cuts on the goblin’s face and head could attest to that.

“I don’t care if the lad is the second coming of Aethel Herself! He broke my bloody window and he’ll pay for it or I’ll take the price from his hide.” Laven’s pale brows shot up as he looked over the sparse interior of the shop with it’s shoddy wares and even shabbier owner. There was a hint of something else here, and as much as it wasn’t his business it wasn’t really the boy’s fault.

He was getting soft hearted, it seemed. He’d blame Menel for this later.

"uuuggghhhhh"
Doki slowly extracted his extra appendage from the broken shop window. Hearing the irate shop owner argueing with Laven he felt himself begin to trmble.
For just a moment he thought he would be spared, here he had just run into the person he was running to meet and now this. There was no way for him to pay the shop owner back and no time to report this back to the estate to try and appease the man.

"I...I-I'm s-sorry..."
He couldn't stop the tears from falling anew as he attempted to repress a few choked sniffles
"I-I didn't me-mea-"
"Sorry is not a payment, rat, comere-'"
The shabby owner snatched Doki by the arm and pulled him forward with force.
"And you-" He pointed at Laven, one grime covered finger coming extremely close to his face.
"BACK OFF, Not ya' business this here-"
He shook Doki for emphases.
"is what owes a dept."
With that the shop keeper turned and made to return into his shop with Doki in tow.

Doki attempted to halfheartedly struggle but the mans grip was strong and he could do nothing but stagger unwillingly after. He was so screwed, but he could at least make sure Geralt might not kill him if Laven could deliver the suit on time.

"P-please, Mister Laven, Geralt nee-needs the s-suit within the hour"
He continued to struggle against his captor to finish what he wanted to say
"P-please-g-get it to him...s-s-orry  I-I was late, sorry..."
He was still crying and he could only hope Laven would understand what he was saying though his sobbing and sniffling.
He was not afraid of this mans anger as much as he was for Geralts. He knew that regardless of what happened to him today Geralt or one of his men would come to collect him. One way or another he would end up back at the estate and he would be in a great deal of trouble. He could only try and soften the blow

Laven found himself moving without even taking the time to consider what he was doing, abandoning the wrapped parcel to the sidewalk. The hand currently gripping the little goblin found itself being grasped in turn, Laven’s thin fingers knowing exactly where to dig in to cause the most pain and force the filthy shopkeeper’s hand open.

The bellow of pain from the larger man did nothing to change the smooth and vague smile on Laven’s face, though the elf took the moment to look down at the sniffing goblin who was now in a heap on the ground once more.
“Come now, How could I leave you when you have a job to finish?” The shopkeeper made to swing his other fist at Laven, though the tailor simply leaned out of the way with both his brows raised.

“Geddoffa me ye long eared ponce!” The fingers digging into the man’s wrist tightened at the insult, though Laven’s face kept the pleasant detached smile in place. He moved, however, bending the man’s arm back and shifting in a way that brought the irate shopkeeper to his knees.

“I’m not unreasonable, but clearly an accident is an accident. You taking it out on… I’m sorry what’s your name child?” Laven blinked and smiled over at the goblin on the icy sidewalk. “He and I have an important delivery, something a businessman like yourself surely understands. And as a fellow business owner I wonder why you wouldn’t have insurance on something as vital as your storefront. Glass that thin would break inevitably, wouldn’t it?” Laven seemed disinterested in any replies the shopkeeper might have wheezed out between pained grunts.

Eventually Laven sighed.
“I suppose in the end I just find myself not liking you, and not liking the way you seemed pleased to be violent to solve a problem. And I’m not a good enough man to be civil in my dislike.” He wrenched the man’s arm a little harder than necessary, feeling the smack of his free arm against Laven’s thigh. Laven smiled blandly and looked up at the sky as if judging the time.

“Mmm, probably should be going soon, wouldn’t you say?”

Laven\\WHAT A LOVELY DAY//Doki Empty Re: Laven\\WHAT A LOVELY DAY//Doki

Post by DokiDoki Mon Jan 04, 2016 10:53 pm

Doki was not expecting Laven to move forward let alone for him to force the shop keepers hand into realising him.
The sudden freedom had Doki fall to his knees and try to quickly scramble a few paces back and away from the two taller men.

Doki watched wide eyed as Laven defended him. Never had anyone so quickly and forcefully  taken his side on anything. It WAS his fault after all, he did brake the window, even if it was an accident he knew he didn't necessary get the same rights as a free citizen.

“I’m not unreasonable, but clearly an accident is an accident. You taking it out on… I’m sorry what’s your name child?”

"...D-doki.."
He managed to murmur in an automatic response to behind asked a direct question more than actually processing what was said. The smile Laven gave him was not helping him recover from absolute shock. It seemed kind and void of malicious intent, at least, twords him. Doki was pretty sure there was some kind of intent building towards the shop keeper, malicious or otherwise he really didn't know how to label it. Was really only glad it wasn't him in that arm hold.

“Mmm, probably should be going soon, wouldn’t you say?”

Doki was still staring, eyes will with amazment and his mouth hanging open. It took him a few moments to finally move.
' That sad excuse for a human deserves worse...'
'Hey that's not nice, I mean, you should definitely not take that jerks shit but I think that is a little excessive....I think hes about to cry that looked like it hurt a lot...'
Doki listened to West and East respectively but shook his head slightly to try and relive himself of their thoughts.

"uuuuuhhh....y-yes...yes...Mister Laven, if..."
He snapped a quick glace down at the shop keeper writhing in pain
"T-that...is..is...okay?"
He didn't know what else to do, people on the street where starting to stop and stare. He could hear murmurs all around him. He looked back up to Laven with a questioning gaze. Was it okay for him to get up? Would this get them in trouble? Should he apologize again? Did he owe him anything? He didn't want to inconvenience the nice tailor but the thought of having a chance to make the delivery on time was starting to fill him with hope.

Laven\\WHAT A LOVELY DAY//Doki Empty Re: Laven\\WHAT A LOVELY DAY//Doki

Post by Laven Sat Jan 09, 2016 11:43 am

People had definitely begun to take notice. The part of Laven’s mind that always seemed to be categorizing and thinking and planning noted that he would have to be on his own way in a few moments if he didn’t want to end up trying to explain to the authorities why he had the still crying and grumbling shopkeeper’s arm torqued behind him. Laven’s bland red eyes took in the way people had paused, and the way a few seemed to be milling around as if waiting for something.

Blowing out a soft breath Laven smiled down at Doki.
“Well Doki? I suppose I could escort you instead and smooth everything over with your employer.” The shopkeeper seemed about ready to make another attempt at dislodging Laven so the elf twisted his arm up just a little tighter, making the larger man squeal. The young goblin in front of him seemed completely frozen in indecision, and Laven might have been mildly irritated at that if he wasn’t so concerned at the way the small fellow seemed absolutely petrified of him most of the time.

The sounds of police sirens however, spurred Laven into action. He lifted his head and glanced once in their direction before back to Doki.
“No time. I hope you can run, young man.” With one more yank against the shopkeeper’s arm Laven released him, moving suddenly and swiftly to grab the package off of the ground and Doki’s hand with the his own. The shopkeeper struggled up and cradled his sore arm, yelling profanities as the elf began to move, the wind eddying around him as if waiting to be let free to propel him forwards.

“Here we go!” And then he was running, his lavender hair almost snapping at the sudden forwards momentum even with the small goblin in tow.

He was getting more nervous by the second. More and more people chattering mumbling watching, and then the sirens became audible.
'Shit!'
'damn'
It was not a comforting sound. It really wasn't at all what Doki needed. Being retained by the shop keeper was bad enough really. Getting arrested or having the authorities involved in something so mediocre would send Geralt into a riot, and it was really the last thing Doki wanted to be responsible for. He was on the verge of full on panic mode as he got caught in thinking about about what the best coarse of action may be when Laven made a decision for him.

“No time. I hope you can run, young man. Here we go!"

Doki felt his feet moving, stumbling over themselves and one another before he processed that Laven had taken his hand to aid him in getting away. Running, it was a good idea, and he was glad the elf had thought of it.

Doki ran as fast as he could, attempting to keep up with Lavens much longer strides and quicker pace. He stumbled a few times but with the aid of Lavens firm grip he kept from falling. Only a few blocks later did it become more of Laven dragging him along as he attempted to keep moving his legs.
Air was beginning to become more difficult to obtain and his legs were burning, Doki couldn't keep up with Lavens superior speed and he could feel himself slowing and fatiguing at a rapid pace.

"I-I-I-S-sor-sorry."
He kept moving and allowed himself to be pulled but at a significantly slower pace. Doki knew he was doing nothing but slowing the elf down, but was reluctant to ease his own grip in Lavens. He was grateful for the gesture both for the aid and warmth it brought.

Laven\\WHAT A LOVELY DAY//Doki Empty Re: Laven\\WHAT A LOVELY DAY//Doki

Post by Laven Sun Jan 24, 2016 10:36 pm

The child was lagging behind quicker than Laven had expected, and at his weak cry Laven glanced behind them and then took a very sudden turn, pulling Doki into a doorway with refuse piled to one side. He shifted the smaller body between the door and himself, glancing down at the green skinned child’s face and pulling him close to share some of his warmth. The poor child was shivering violently from the chill. “Listen, Do you hear anyone chasing us?” Laven strained his own ears, both of them shifting subtly as if to try and catch any sound of pursuit.

He could hear them, heavy footfalls and irritated voices. Not the police then, but instead the shopkeeper and his friends? Customers? Red eyes narrowed and he tipped his head towards the bags full of trash and odds and ends.
“Doki,” Laven gave him a warm smile, pressing the wrapped and now slightly crumpled package into his hand. “I want to you hide. Can you do that for me? I’ll take care of things here and then we can be on our way to your employer’s home.” He ruffled the mass of dark hair and tipped his head towards the trash.

“Go on then, I’ll make it quick.” Turning towards the growing noise of people chasing Laven pulled Remembrance free from its sheath on his thigh, the blade throwing no light from it’s surface. “And Doki?” Laven glanced once over his shoulder. “If you get a chance go on ahead. No point in being late, yes?”

Laven\\WHAT A LOVELY DAY//Doki Empty Re: Laven\\WHAT A LOVELY DAY//Doki

Post by DokiDoki Thu Jan 28, 2016 9:10 pm

Doki let laven guide his steps with no resistance and was grateful for the still moment to catch his breath. He was calmed greatly as Laven pulled him closer, it felt safe rather than confining even if his back was pressed against a locked door. The taller was warm and it was slowly ebbing away with chill Doki felt down to his bones. He had and overwhelming urge to wrap his own arms around the taller and press himself into the folds of fabric as one might snuggle into a blanket. Cold green hands inchged upward tentatively, unbidden as he was possessed by the thought.

But, At Lavens remark about hearing anything Doki quickly lowered his hands back to their resting position and silenced his ragged breaths as best he could. He also strained to hear what was approaching and could make out the not very happy voice of the shop keeper Laven had, in Dokis mind, heroically humiliated.

'Dee you are so lucky this handsome elf is helping you out.'

Doki accepted the particle without hesitation and wrapped both arms around it. He pressed it close to his chest in an attempt to silently promise to keep it safe. He stared up at the tailor with a wide awe struck gaze. Laven had already done so much and kept doing more to aid him it was really something Doki was not accustomed to and something he felt might even be some sort of fever dream brought about by passing out on the cold street.

The feeling of a gentle hand upon his head  startled him from his ranting thoughts about relaity and how certain he was of himself being awake but he didn't do much beyond flinch in surprise. Never had anyone done that to him, he wasn't even sure what it was suppose to mean- wasn't even sure how he felt about it.

“If you get a chance go on ahead. No point in being late, yes?”

Doki stood dumbly for a second before east snapped him back to the present with a few harsh words and a shove toward the trash heap. He was not beyond hiding in a pile of garbage. even one wafting up such a stick as the one he was burrowing into with all three arms working in tandem to make the hiding process quick and efficient. He was a little concerned for the package but hoped the wrapping would keep it relatively stink free.

He peeked through a small opening to watch laven. Watched him standing with weapon at the ready as the disgruntled shop keeper and three of his acolytes charged in for the assault. He hadn't expected everything to escalate so quickly; but he also couldn't think of what else he was expecting.

Without a moment of pause  two of the grunts where using their fire element to try and fry Laven. The third was swinging down with a steel rod and the injured leader stood back searching around the area for what Doki could only assume was him.

'Three against one isn't fair! Dee you should be helping him not hiding like a coward!'

He did feel bad about leaving the tailor to take part in a fight that was entirely his fault but the guilt was overridden by the fear of confrontation as well as the leader brandishing a large sharp looking hunting knife. The sight of witch was a great motivator for being a coward.

He would have openly disagreed with East but kept his mouth shut and body still to minimize the chance of discovery. He watch Laven and was really hoping the attackers would not gain an advantage on him.

As Laven slipped into the cool and detached state of mind he often had while fighting he had a moment of gratitude for Menel and his fire magic. Even if the swordsman rarely used it when he did it kept Laven on his toes. Fire was chaotic and never quite went where you thought it would. So when the two unleashed tongues of flame at him dropped and rolled forwards, past the two pyromancers and the third with his bludgeon and up behind the trio. He felt the solid thunk of the pipe impact against the ground before he was back up and on his feet, light steps circling his attackers.

“Don’t just stand there ya clods! Take that fancy bugger out!” The shopkeeper brandished his knife threateningly but seemed unwilling to join in the fray, and Laven spared him a glance only to make sure he wasn’t going to be pouncing on Doki’s hiding spot before sending a burst of air at one of the fire users. Their next attack misfired, the flames growing stronger and changing direction back towards them while Laven made a feint at the other with Remembrance.

They moved back to avoid the blade’s reach and Laven pushed into their space, one foot lashing out and hooking around their ankle to knock them off balance. Then he was gone, slipping backwards as well and sending more bursts of air at the two fire users to keep them off balance. Dark red eyes flicked to the man wielding the pipe as he was rushed suddenly with a rage-filled cry.

Thin fingers caught the pipe and Laven shifted his body, letting the other man’s momentum propel him over Laven’s shoulder and onto his back on the ice and snow. A sharp blow with his knuckles into his throat left the man gasping for air, nerveless fingers dropping the weapon that Laven kicked away. A sound caught his attention and he turned, only just getting his dagger up in time before the shopkeeper’s knife deflected against it. The shriek of metal against metal making the elf’s ears flatten back.

Laven\\WHAT A LOVELY DAY//Doki Empty Re: Laven\\WHAT A LOVELY DAY//Doki

Doki watched with a mix of wonderment and terror. Watching Laven was like watching a well choreographed waltz. All grace, visually appealing and terribly efficient. At the sight of how easily and effortlessly Laven dodged the blows and struck back with his own had Doki wanting to cheer with excitement and also left him slightly intimidated.
He had never considered such a kind man could be so deadly and the man was quickly winning the living super hero award in Doki mind.

The Knifes clashing had the air ringing and Doki almost gasping at the development. The two fire thugs where trying to regain their barrings, and the third no longer seemed a threat as a crumpled heap gasping for breath in the snow. Laven was occupied squaring off with the leader and Doki found himself leaning forward ever so slowly trying to get a better view from the safely of his garbage fortress.

The first of the fire users to recover was going to strike again, Doki had all faith that Laven would counter- would dodge and give back twice as much but East would not let up in her yelling.

'Help him help him help him!!'
It was like she wasn't even watching the same fight he was. Like she cared not to pay attention at all and just kept insisting on following some kind of gut instinct.
'COWARD!'
Doki should have expected it, really he was not to surprised it had happened but he was startled in the moment when East violently shoved him forward.
She was unbelievably strong for being a figment of his imagination and the force drove him forward, even as he resisted, until he tipped out of the trash heap onto his hands and knees along with a a few squishy pieced of garbage and a few plastic bags.

"uhh..."

The fire thug that had not yet rejoined the fight recovered just in time to divert his attention to the ruckus Doki had caused.
'Get em' Dee! block the blows meant for Laven the beautiful with your squishy body!'
He really hated that woman.
The pyromancer moved quickly, runnning to Doki at top speed.

"w-w-w-w-wait!"
He clutched the parcel tightly to his chest with one arm, preparing himself for the blow.

Laven craned his neck around to see the little goblin out from his hiding spot. With a curse the elf suddenly gave the merchant with his wicked knife slack, causing the much larger man to tumble forwards. Then it was simple to lash out with his fist and connect to the man’s temple hard enough to feel the impact up to his shoulder.

He had time to sheath his dagger at his hip before he was off and running, glancing at the remaining pyromancer who was gathering magic for a large spell. Then his eyes were focused on the goblin with his paper-wrapped parcel. Laven barreled into the smaller body and tucked himself around Doki, rolling both of them out of the way of another lash of flame before coming up on his knees. There was a burst of air around the pair, enough to push back all the debris with a thunderous noise and to knock the two remaining men off their feet.

“That’s enough.” Red eyes narrowed and Laven pulled his vortex tightly around himself and Doki until some of the lighter trash was picked up. The leader was still prone on the ground, but the man with the pipe had begun to stir and groan. Laven pulled his dagger free and pointed it at the remaining fire wielders. “I’m going to stop pulling my punches now. You two would be wise to get your friends and go home.” He had already noted their weak points. They were slow to cast, and he could get one with Remembrance easily before the other could attack him. Disable the other and make sure the third man went back down.

He was a deer staring into the headlights of an oncoming vehicle. Frozen in place in fear and panic. The sphere of flame would have collided directly with his face had Laven not tackled him away and shielded him.
He could hear more than feel the air around them circulated quickly but didn't give it much thought, all he could really focus on were the strong arms protecting him. It made him feel safe, it was comforting. He liked it so much he unconsciously buried his bruised and still aching face into the tailors shoulder.

“I’m going to stop pulling my punches now. You two would be wise to get your friends and go home.”

The fire casters paused to take a look at their incapacitated leader before looking at each other and running off in the opposite direction. Not bothering to stop and assist or pick up either of their comrades.
Doki peaked out around Laven in time to see the pipe wilder stumbling off after the two pyromancers. The only one left was the disorientated merchant and Doki wasn't even sure if he was conscious. As it seemed the fight was over  and with the threat level back to a standard sapling green Doki allowed himself to relax.

"uh...M-mr. l-l-la-avin...."
He still felt bad about inconveniencing Laven. If he hadn't been late, hadn't been such a clumsy fool the tailor would have been spared all of this annoyance. He wanted to apologize, and thank him all at once but wasn't sure if words could really express how deep his gratitude ran or how sorry he was for everything.
'Just give him a hug, that's what normal people do Dee.'
He didn't think about it, just listened to Easts advise. Using one of his extra appendages to take hold of the parcel he wrapped the remaining three arms around Lavens wider frame and squeezed. He was never very good at controlling his strength so the hug delivered was of more than adequate force. Arguably, if such a hug had been delivered to a child it would have killed them but Doki didn't know that. The amount of hugs he had given or received he could count on one hand making him the most novice of huggers.
"...Thanks...."

The sight of the last conscious fighter leaving drained some of the tension from Laven’s shoulders, and he glanced down at Doki when the goblin began to speak. It was harder to draw himself completely back into a mindset where he could reply, though when three arms wrapped around him in a bone crushing hug he managed a soft grunt before returning the favor. “You’re… You’re quite welcome, Doki.” Laven held Remembrance carefully, shifting his grip so that he could slip the knife back into the sheath on his thigh before squeezing Doki’s shoulder.

“Now, we really should get going. Can you walk?” The small youth didn’t seem terribly injured but Laven wasn’t about to drag him through the alleys only to find out that he had some kind of broken bone he hadn’t thought to mention. The fact that there were extra limbs sprouting from under his baggy clothing did make the elf raise his brows. But he had seen far stranger people than a goblin with more than two arms.

He led Doki out through the alley, passing the unconscious man and only sparing him a single glance to make sure the large fellow wasn’t about to stir. Once they were on the street again Laven simply let his hand rest over Doki’s shoulder and steered him carefully. The goblin had waited long enough to finish his errand. And Laven would do what he could to bring him back to his employer.
